Define the return
A useful business case names the improvement being purchased: more completed floor area, fewer overtime hours, better schedule consistency, or more staff time for detailed work. General efficiency is too vague to measure.
Use operating evidence
Route records, staff hours, service events, and inspection results can show whether the expected change is occurring. The measures should be simple enough to review routinely.
Review the whole period
Initial setup can differ from steady operation, and maintenance costs arrive over time. Owners should evaluate results across a meaningful period instead of drawing conclusions from the first few weeks.
